News About Town: At last night’s Board of Commissioners meeting, several planning items were presented.
The Godwin Homes project (2020-725) on Pleasant Plains had a continuation of their public hearing from March. The developer presented a new approach to the property: 10 single-family homes instead of 8 duplexes (16 units total), with a lower price point per unit. The project will go to the Planning Board and then back to the Board of Commissioners at the May 10 meeting. The new elevations are not yet on the town website but can be viewed on the YouTube recording starting at time stamp 1:13:15.
The Board also voted to not approve Zoning Application 2021-727/Greylock Ridge Townhomes. The plans consisted of 75 townhomes, 11 of which would be priced at 60% Matthews annual median income ($1,100). The Board was split in a tie with three commissioners voting for the project (Bland, Miller, Whitley) and three commissioners voting against (Garner, Higdon, McCool). With a tied vote, the determination is determined not to pass. Commissioner John Urban served as a consultant to the developer and recused himself from voting.
