News About Town: Two advisory board meetings are coming up this week and next. The Matthews Committee on Education (6:30 pm) and the Environmental Advisory Committee (7 pm) will meet tomorrow, October 13 via Zoom. The Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources Advisory Committee meets remotely on Wednesday, October 14, at 6:30 pm, and the Transportation Advisory Committee will hold a remote meeting on Thursday, October 15, at 7 pm. The following week, on October 19, the Appearance and Tree Committee will meet at 7 pm and on Monday, October 21, the Silver Line Task Force will meet at 7 pm on Wednesday, October 23.

News Around Town: Charlotte Independence played Charleston Battery this past Saturday in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals of the 2020 USL Championship Playoffs at the Matthews Sportsplex. Charleston scored in extra time, winning the match 2-1 and will continue in the playoffs.

One Important Thing: Early voting starts this week and is available only at limited library locations. Usually the Matthews Library is an early voting location, but this year it is not. However, Mecklenburg County residents can vote at any of the 33 locations throughout the county, including Matthews Elementary School and Butler High School. Make sure you have a plan
