News About Town: At Monday’s Board of Commissioners Meeting, the Board approved two zoning related items:
Zoning Application 2020-725/Moore: The Board approved 10 homes on the lot at 2132 Pleasant Plains Road in a vote of five to two (McCool and Urban opposed).
Zoning Application 2021-729/text: Amends the Unified Development Ordinance (the document that determines allowable uses in zoning matters) to add “indoor commercial recreation not otherwise listed” in the B-3 zoning district. B-3 is considered the High Rise Business District. This will allow Inner Peaks Climbing Gym to stay competitive in business while offering customers a taller climbing experience.
News Around Town: Join Greater Matthews Habitat for Humanity (GMHFH) this Saturday, May 15th at 10 am, on Facebook Live to dedicate the 114th home in the Greater Matthews community with new homeowners Celestin and Marie. According to Habitat, “Celestin, and his mother Marie, will be purchasing the home through an interest-free affordable mortgage with GMHFH and contributed over 200 hours of ‘sweat equity’ in lieu of a down payment. The family, which includes Marie, her son Celestin, and four other sons, emigrated to the United States from Rwanda.”
