News About Town: The Monday night Board of Commissioners Meeting went a little longer than usual for the second meeting of the month. Stretching until nearly midnight, the meeting was closed out with a personal note from long-time Town Manager Hazen Blodgett when he shared retirement plans set for the end of March 2022. The Town Manager reports to the Board of Commissioners, and tenure is generally seven to eight years. Town Manager Blodgett came from the City of Whiteville and has served as the Town Manager of Matthews for 18 years.
