News About Town: It’s National Fire Prevention Week. The Fire Department usually wraps this week up with an open house, but this year things are looking a little different. News Around Town: Mecklenburg County’s Air Quality Commission (AQC) was formed in 2002 to promote the protection, preservation, and enhancement of the ambient air resources in the county. The commission needs qualified applicants to fill vacant seats for the position of attorney, industry, public, and transportation. This Commission provides input to the County Commission, county staff, and local municipalities. Applicants must reside in Mecklenburg County. Apply online.
