News Around Town: On Wednesday, Novant Hospital announced the organization is raising their minimum wage to $15 an hour. According to a 2019 Fact Sheet, the Winston Salem-based medical provider employs more than 1,600 physicians and over 29,000 employees at over 640 locations. Throughout the system, this raise benefits more than 2,000 team members and will be effective January 2021. The Matthews location employs approximately 1,000 total salaried and hourly staff.

Locally organized by Captain McGuirt as part of Project ChildSafe, Cops With Locks provides free gun locks and teaches safe and responsible gun ownership.
